UC Men’s Swimming Collects 11 Wins; 12 National Cuts in Road Win

Columbia, KY – The Patriots men's swimming team picked up right where they left tallying 11 wins and achieving 12 NAIA national cuts as they defeated Lindsey Wilson 163-99 Saturday afternoon.  UC had seven swimmers capture wins along with being the top finishers in both relays.

UC opened the day by pulling away from the field and winning the 400-medley relay by almost eight seconds.  The quartet of Brandon Holder, Leon Irmer, Ruthiik Satti, and Adam Geddis teamed up to clock a 3:25.64, which ranks fourth in the NAIA.

Alexander Poulsen and Brandon Holder led the way for the Pats with a pair of victories each.  Poulsen opened the day by winning the 50 free with a time of 20.50, which is the third fastest 50 free in program history.  He followed that up clocking a 50.16 to pull away from the field and win the 100 fly with his second provisional cut.

Holder began his day with a provisional cut in the 100 back after clocking a 51.69.  he followed that up being the top finisher in the 200 back this time clocking a 1:56.61. 

UC swept the top three spots in the 200 fly as Zsombor Bene notched a 1:56.13 to capture the win. Juan Ramirez Zapata touched the wall in 1:56.76 to also clip the provisional standard.

Arvid Farro notched a pair of provisional cuts on the day. He took top honors in the 100 free after clocking a 47.03, while his 50 free time of 21.69 also clipped the cut.

Leon Irmer and Fabrizio Pacioni both collected wins and provisional cuts on the day.  Irmer went 57.43 to take the 100 breast, while Pacioni notched a 1:56.287 in the 200 IM.

Collecting the Patriots final individual win was Jeremiah Koenig, who edged out teammate Adam Geddis 1:46.11 to 1:46.38 to win the 200 free.

Sergio Saldamando Martinez collected a provisional cut in the 500 free after clocking a 4:50.49.

In the final event of the day, the 200 free relay, Geddis, Poulsen, Farro, and Irmer teamed up to clock a winning time of 1:24.28.

UC returns to the water Friday, October 31, when they travel to Greencastle, IN to face DePauw University in a two-day meet. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m.
