Black earned the male athlete of the week honors after posting a pair of wins on the week. The freshman picked up a huge win as he knocked off Life’s Denver Stonecheck, who is ranked first at the 149 lbs. weight class in an 11-9 decision. In that match, Black tallied the first takedown of the match as the match was even through the first period. The freshman added another two-point take down in the second period, however, found himself trailing 7-5 heading into the final period, where the he garnered a two-point reversal and a pair of takedowns for the 11-9 decision. Black also notched an 6-4 sudden victory win over Trevor Brudick of Reinhardt. In that match, the Helena, AL native scored three points in the third period to force overtime and in the first overtime recorded a takedown to secure the win.
