University of the Cumberlands Athletics

Amber Gainer earned athlete of the week honors after leading the Patriots to a four-game sweep over Lindsey Wilson.  Gainer went 10-14 for a .714 average, with six doubles and a team-best nine runs scored.  The Ringgold, GA native opened the week going 3-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored.  Gainer added a pair of doubles with a stolen base and two runs scored in game two of the series.  The junior scored the first run of the game and added an RBI double in the fifth as the Pats broke open the game.  Gainer followed it up going 2-3 with a double and a pair of runs scored in the Patriots 6-5 win.  She doubled in the first inning before coming around to score to help UC jump in front early.  In the series finale, Gainer went 3-3 with a double, a stolen base, and two runs scored as Cumberlands remains unbeaten in MSC play.
