Jordan Countryman

Coach Jordan Countryman is entering his third year as head coach of the Men’s Wrestling team, first taking the helm during the 2018-19 season. Coutryman was repleaced Head Coach by Cory Ruff in August 2021.

Countryman led the Patriots to MSC victory, both in the regular season and in the tournament, in 2020. Cumberlands saw big wins in 2019-2020, including over #3 Marian 24-19 and #4 Lindsey Wilson 24-15. The Patriots dominated in tournament action as well, his Patriots finding top-three placements 34 times individually across six different tournaments. Because of his success in 2019-2020, Countryman received his first MSC Coach of the Year award. Under his tutelage, the Patriots secured fourth place at the NAIA Championships behind four all-Americans including his first national champion, Tres Leon. 

In his first season, Countryman led the Patriots to a 14-3 duals record, while capturing the Mid-South Conference regular-season title.  UC finished seventh at the NAIA National Championships and placed four NAIA All-Americans. Highlighting the regular season, the Patriots placed third at the NWCA National Duals, including a win of then-ranked #2 Indiana Tech, 20-19. Cumberlands later defeated #3 Life and #8 Lindsey Wilson to secure the conference title.

He was previously a graduate assistant with the Patriots wrestling team in 2017-18.

Prior to coming to the Cumberlands, he coached at Stanhope Elmore High School in Alabama from 2007-2009, helping crown the school’s first ever state champion.  He returned to coach at Prattville High School from 2009-2017, where he also taught Special Education and Health for four years.  As Head Coach at Prattville, he led the team to three top-five finishes at the state tournament, coached numerous state placers, five state champions, and three All-Americans. 

Originally from Prattville, AL, Jordan was a state champion his senior year at 140 lbs, and he graduated from Prattville High School in 2006.
