Women’s Swimming Posts Ten “A” Cuts in Wins over Union and Bethel

Barbourville, KY – The Patriots Women's Swim Team won seven events and hit ten NAIA "A" standards as they defeated Union 192-77 and Bethel 160-77 Saturday afternoon.  With the wins Cumberlands improves to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 against the Mid-South Conference. 

Kenzie Pennington, Mendy De Rooi, Cameron Klimczak, and Christina Klouda each posted a pair of "A" cuts on the afternoon.  Pennington posted her first cut of the season as she touched the wall in 1:11.27 and finished second in the 100 breaststroke.  She followed that up by earning her first collegiate win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:34.18.

De Rooi earned second place finishes in the 50 free and 100 free going 24.95 and 54.07, respectfully.  Her 100 free time is over two seconds faster than the standard, while 24.95 is .63 second faster than the "A" cut.  For the second straight week Klimczak won the 100 breaststroke this time touching the wall in 1:07.82. Klimczak earned an "A" cut in her fourth individual event as she swam 54.72 in the 100 free.

Klouda hit national cuts in all three of her individual events, including winning the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:13.84. She followed that up with a pair of second place finishes in the 100 back (1:01.50) and the 200 breaststroke (2:36.10).

Houston Burgoon, Brittany Litke, and Raeleigh Stansbery each posted a win in the meet.  Burgoon swam 1:02.79 to win the 100 butterfly and hit a "B" cut, while Litke won the 200 fly touching the wall in 2:28.34.  For the second straight week Stansbery won the 1000 free with a time of 11:21.39.

Cumberlands started the meet with Litke, Klimczak, De Rooi and Burgoon teaming up to go 1:50.60 to win the 200 medley relay. 

The Patriots will return to the water Thursday, November 2, when they host Centre at the Dinah Taylor Aquatic Center.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and live video is available here, while live results will be available here.
