Campbellsville, KY – The UC women's wrestling team took on the second-ranked Tigers of Campbellsville University on Wednesday night. Despite the Patriots fourth spot ranking in the WCWA poll, the Tigers showed their dominance by winning the MSC matchup by a final score of 31-12. Campbellsville improves to 10-0 overall and 4-0 in conference while the Patriots drop to 7-3 on the year and 2-1 in the MSC.

Starting at 101 pounds, sixth-ranked Maia Phanthadara won in a 12-4 decision over McKenzie Bacich to allow UC the 3-1 lead. The Tigers took the 109 pound weight class by fall, stealing the lead 6-3. Next at 116 pounds, CU recorded another fall victory to go ahead 11-3. At 123 pounds, fourth-ranked Kelly-Ann Jimenez won in an 8-7 decision over sixth-ranked Steffanie Hampton to shorten the Patriot deficit to 12-6. Campbellsville won by decision at 130 pounds to increase their lead further to 15-6.

The Tigers recorded another fall victory at 136 pounds to push their lead further to 20-6. In the 143 pound weight class, CU won in a tech fall to go up 24-6.  Increasing their lead even more, Campbellsville recorded a decision win at 155 pounds to go up 27-7. Another tech fall win for the Tigers increased their lead to 31-7. At 191 pounds, Courteney Tompkins, who is ranked seventh in the 170 weight class, slightly closed the gap with a fall win at 4:37 over Kate Hill. Despite the last win, Campbellsville held on to take the win 31-12.

This Saturday, November 18 the Patriots will head to Marshall, MO to compete in the Missouri Valley Open. First day of action is set to begin at 9 a.m. Results can be found here.
