Georgetown, KY – The UC Women's Tennis team had two advance in both the singles and doubles bracket on the first day of competition at the ITA Regionals Thursday.
Top-seeded
Isabella Dale opened her tournament by sweeping Emily Ross of Asbury 6-0, 6-0 in the second round. She advances to the third round against Toni Pfieffer of Campbellsville Friday at 11:30 a.m.
Tomomi Nagao advanced in both the singles and doubles bracket. In the singles bracket, ninth-seed Nagao defeated Abby Allen of Milligan in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. She will face Christina Schoener of Union in the third round on Friday at 1 p.m. In doubles, the dou of Nagao and
Jaclyn Jewell defeated Dana Frank and Tamerra Horton of IU Southeast to advance to the third round.
Luka Lyttle and
Denee Lyttle posted an 8-1 win over Caitlin Conyers and Emily Ross of Asbury to advance to the third round.
Hannah Wampler and
Marian Bogajo were both eliminated from the singles bracket after falling in straight sets.
The winners of the singles and doubles bracket will earn an automatic berth to the ITA Oracle Cup, which takes place October 13-16 in Rome, GA.
