Williamsburg, KY – The fourth-ranked UC men's wrestling earned a pair of MSC wins on Saturday over the Barons of Brewton-Parker who are receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll and the 11
th-ranked Tigers of Campbellsville. With the wins, the Patriots' overall record improves to 10-1 while the conference record goes to 3-0.
In the first match against the Barons, Cumberlands went up by 45 points before Brewton-Parker managed to get on the board while UC continued on to win the match 51-3. The dual began at 149 pounds with top-ranked
Tres Leon defeating Dean Esquibel in a 16-0 tech fall for an early 5-0 Cumberland lead. At 157 pounds,
Bobby Ehman pinned Luke Anderson at 1:05 pushing the score to 11-0. The Patriots then earned two straight forfeit wins for 15
th-ranked
Tristan Macri at 165 pounds and
Max Emerson at 174 pounds, making it 23-0 UC. Fourth-ranked
Cameron Jones picked up a fall win at 3:47 over Jeffrey Pinkney to move the score to 29-0.
With the Patriots up by 29 halfway through the match, 11
th-ranked
Eric Deluse pushed the lead to 35-0 after defeating Daniel Anderson by fall at 4:15 in the 197 pound weight class. Sixth-ranked
Quandre Chisolm, 285 pounds, earned a 15-0 tech fall over Jose Carrillo-Garcia, making the score 40-0 Patriots. At 125 pounds, top-ranked
Hayden Lee defeated Christopher Houston in a 16-0 tech fall for the UC lead to move to 45-0. In the 133 pound weight class, the Barons managed to sneak in a decision win to get on the board but still trailed 45-3.
Trent Leon, 141 pounds, earned a forfeit win for the Patriots to take the 51-3 win over Brewton-Parker.
The second match for UC against the Tigers was similar to the first as the Patriots won nine of ten weight classes to win the match 31-3. Just like the first dual, the match started at 149 pounds.
Tres Leon opened up with a 15-5 major decision over David Sparks to make the score 4-0. At 157 pounds, Ehman earned a 10-4 decision over Calieb Ray to move the score to 7-0. In the 165 pound weight class, 15
th-ranked Macri defeated LJ Henderson in a 7-4 decision, making the score 10-0. Campbellsville made the score 10-3 with a narrow 3-2 decision at 174 pounds. Next at 184 pounds, Jones knocked off top-ranked Chuck Sharon in sudden victory by 12-10 decision, making it 13-3 Cumberlands.
Deluse, 197 pounds, earned an 8-0 major decision over Jacob Franklin to increase the lead to 17-3. At 285 pounds, Chisolm tallied another win in a 5-4 decision over Nate Jackson for the Patriots to go up 20-3. In the 125 pounds weight class, Lee notched a 12-2 major decision to make the score 24-3. Top-ranked
Jake Sinkovics, 133 pounds, earned a 9-1 major decision over Kolten Radaz, extending the lead to 28-3. In the final weight class, 141 pounds,
Trent Leon upset eighth-ranked Jayce Carr in a 4-3 decision as UC won the match 31-3.
