Columbia, KY – The UC men's swim team earned 14 national cuts en route to 180-79 win over MSC rival Lindsey Wilson Saturday afternoon. The Patriots won eight of the 14 events and posted 11 runner-up finishes.
Cumberlands opened the meet with
Daric Sundeen,
Jacob Smith,
Viktor Lyson, and
Courtland Ellis teaming up to touch the wall in 1:37.29 to win the 200 medley relay.
Newcomers
Daniel Sims and
John Morgan McDonald led the way for UC with two wins apiece. Sims won the 200 breast with a time of 2:11.73, before winning the 200 IM, touching the wall in 1:59.83. Sims 200 breasts time was an "A" cut, while he hit a "B" standard in the 200 IM.
Morgan McDonald went 2:01.27 in the 200 fly to win the event and hit an "A" cut. He followed that up by hitting a "B" cut in the 500 free with a winning time of 4:54.35.
Ellis, Lyson, and Smith each posted a win on the afternoon. Ellis won the 200 free (1:47.37), while Lyson took first in the 100 fly (52.47). Both of those times were "A" cuts, while Smith won the 100 breast (1:00.24) to notch a "B" cut.
Nic Cecioni recorded Cumberlands final "A" standard, touching the wall in 54.68 for the 100 back. He followed that up, hitting a "B" cut in the 200 back (2:01.19).
Ellis (100 free- 48.97), Lyson (50 free- 22.44), and
Bryce Pierce (200 free- 1:50.37) each recorded a "B" standard in the meet.
The Patriots will return to the water Saturday, October 13, as the host Union in their home opener. The meet will be a breast cancer awareness meet and begin at 1 p.m. with live video available
