Wilmore, KY – The fourth-ranked UC men's swimming & diving team earned a split as they defeated Asbury 206-106 but fell to top-ranked Keiser 211-103 Saturday afternoon. The Patriots added six NAIA "A" standards and earned a pair of wins on the final day.
Viktor Lyson notched his second win of the meet, touching the wall in 48.28 to win the 100 free. That time was a season best for Lyson and earned him an "A" cut. Lyson garnered his third "A" standard of the weekend as he touched the wall in 51.33 to finish second in the 100 fly.
Daniel Sims earned UC's final win of the meet as he took first place in the 200 IM with a time of 1:57.19. That is the third fastest time in the NAIA this season.
Cumberlands recorded a pair of national standards in the 200 free. Cortland Ellis swam 1:45.86 to finish second with an "A" cut, while
John Morgan McDonald earned a "B" standard after finishing third with a time of 1:48.54.
Bryce Pierce placed fifth in the event touching the wall in 1:50.96.
Alex Mashburn posted a "B" standard in the 100 fly with a time of 54.01.
Alan Senn and
Jacob Smith each earned a runner-up finish in their respective events. Senn went 10:14.43 in the 1000 free, while Smith touched the wall in 1:01.70 in the 100 breast.
UC opened the day with
Daric Sundeen, Smith, Lyson, and Ellis teaming up to swim 1:38.72 in the 200 medley relay.
The Patriots will return to the water Friday, November 16, as they travel to Cleveland, OH to take part in the Magnus Cup.
