Campbellsville, KY – The fourth-ranked UC men's swimming & diving team posted their first sweep of the season as they took first in all 11 events to defeat Campbellsville 168-23 Friday night. UC posted four "A" cuts and five national standards in the meet.
Cumberlands opened the meet with
Jonatan Quintero,
Courtland Ellis,
Daric Sundeen, and
Blaise Snowberg touching the wall in 1:53.41 to win the 200 medley relay.
Ellis continued his strong season as he notched national "A" cuts in both the 200 and 400 free. Ellis won the 1:59.38 to win the 200 free, before touching the wall in 4:10.44 finish first in the 400 free.
Viktor Lyson swam 1:01.37 in the 100 back to tally his lone win of the night as well as a "B" cut.
Bryce Pierce led a trio of Patriots in the 50 free with a time of 25.76.
Jacob Smith (26.07) and
Carl Rogne (26.97) finished second and third, respectfully. Rogne added an individual win of his own later in the meet as he went 1:13.55 to win the 100 breast.
Griffin Bachman notched his first win of the season as he swam 2:28.30 in the 200 IM, while
Cole Huggard won the 100 fly touching the wall in 1:04.47.
John Morgan McDonald and Sundeen notched UC's final two individual wins. McDonald won the 800 free with a time of 8:53.35, while Sundeen swam 56.71 to win the 100 free.
In the final event of the meet, the 200 meter free relay, Sundeen, Quintero,
Alex Mashburn, and
Hunter Eaton teamed up to win the event with a time of 1:44.44.
The Patriots will return to the water Saturday, January 12, when they travel to Springfield, OH to take on Whittenberg. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
