Women’s Swimming & Diving Dominant in Win over Tigers

Campbellsville, KY  – The third-ranked UC women's swimming & diving team notched 11 wins and ten runner-up finishes en route to a 165-31 win over Mid-South Conference rival Campbellsville Friday night.  The Patriots hit six national cuts in the meet as well.

Christina Klouda and Houston Burgoon led the way for UC with two individual wins apiece.  Klouda got her meet started by touching the wall in 2:16.12 to win the 200 free, which is over a second faster than the "A" standard.  She followed that up by posting a "B" cut in the 100 fly with a time of 1:09.33.

Burgoon took first in both the 100 free as well as the 200 IM swimming 1:04.05 and 2:42.40, respectfully. Cameron Klimczak recorded Cumberlands final individual national cut as she went 28.86 in the 50 free.  She also finished runner-up in the 400 free with a time of 5:11.45.

Leah Thomas won the 400 free, touching the wall in 4:54.80, while Casey Walin swam 10:15.81 to win the 800 free. 

Becca Loftus notched a first-place finish in the 100 back with a time of 1:13.93.  Faith Lawler edged out Sara Overly, 1:27.97 to 1:29.33, in the 100 breast.   

In the final event of the meet, the 200 meter free relay, Loftus, Klouda, Nicole Ceausu, and Thomas teamed up to swim 1:58.78 to complete the sweep.

The Patriots will return to the water Saturday, January 12, when they travel to Springfield, OH to take on Whittenberg.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
