3/12/2018 8:34:00 PM

Box Score Lawrenceburg, GA – Three days after the second-ranked team in the NAIA, the UC women's tennis team face another tough task as they traveled to take on the reigning NAIA champions Georgia Gwinnett.  The Patriots battled but ultimately fell 9-0 to the Grizzly Monday afternoon.

Georgia Gwinnett (10-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a win at #2 doubles. At #1 doubles, Tomomi Nagao and Jaclyn Jewell took on Emerald Able and Margarida Abreu, who are ranked second in the NAIA.  Jewell and Nagao were able to score a few points but fell 8-3 as the Grizzly extend their lead to 2-0.

The Grizzly took a 3-0 lead into singles play and continued to display why they're the top-ranked team in the NAIA as they won all six singles matches in straight sets for the 9-0 final.

The Patriots will return to the court Tuesday, March 13, when they continue their road trip and face NCAA Division II foe Young Harris. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
