Box Score Williamsburg, KY – For the second time this season, the UC women's tennis team has notched a 9-0 win this time against Shawnee State in Mid-South Conference action Tuesday afternoon at the UC Tennis Complex. With the win the Patriots improve to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in MSC play, while the Bears move to 2-11 and 0-2 in conference action.
Jaclyn Jewell and
Tomomi Nagao got the day started with an 8-0 win over Shelby Hay and Abby Brinkman at #1 doubles.
Denee Lyttle and
Luka Lyttle followed with an 8-0 win at #2 doubles to extend UC's lead to 2-0. At #2 doubles
Haley Mahan and
Hannah Wampler tallied an 8-1 win to give the Patriots a 3-0 lead heading into conference play.
Marian Bogajo extended Cumberlands lead to 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #5 singles. Nagao notched a straight sets win over Hay, 6-0, 6-0, at #1 singles to clinch the match. Jewell followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at #2, while
Luka Lyttle and
Denee Lyttle both win in straight sets to make it 8-0.
Hannah Wampler closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the #6 position to improve to 5-4 on the season.
The Patriots will return to the court Saturday, March 24, when they host MSC foe Pikeville. First serve is set for 12 p.m. at the UC Tennis Complex.
