Box Score Williamsburg, KY – For the second straight match and the third time this season, the UC women's tennis team recorded a 9-0 win this time against Pikeville in Mid-South Conference action Sunday afternoon at the UC Tennis Complex. With the win the Patriots improve to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in MSC play, while the Bears move to 4-4 and 1-2 in conference action.
Cumberlands began the match with a 2-0 lead after winning #3 doubles and #6 singles by forfeit. At #1 doubles,
Jaclyn Jewell and
Tomomi Nagao posted an 8-3 win over Andrea Hurtado and Samantha Fraser to extend UC's lead to 3-0.
Haley Mahan and
Hannah Wampler followed with an 8-3 win to give the Patriots a 4-0 lead heading into singles play.
Luka Lyttle recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win at #3 singles to clinch the match for UC.
Denee Lyttle and
Marian Bogajo each posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at #4 and #5 singles, respectfully, to make it 7-0. Jewell and Nagao achieved straight sets wins for the 9-0 final.
The Patriots will return to the court Monday, March 25, when they host Lewis-Clark State. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the UC Tennis Complex.
