Lebanon, TN – Facing their second top-ten opponent in three days, the UC men's tennis falls to seventh-ranked Cumberland 6-3 in their regular season finale Friday afternoon. With the win the Phoenix improve to 18-2 overall and 5-1 in MSC play, while the Patriots move to 7-10 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Cumberland swept all three doubles matches to give the Phoenix an early 3-0 lead.
The Phoenix extended their lead to 6-0 with wins at #1, #2, and #3 singles. At #5 singles,
Rodrigo Ratte was leading Thiago Lopes 7-3 before Lopes retired to help UC cut the deficit to 6-1.
Luis Montull and
Eric Banoub were both leading their matches at #4 and #6 singles, respectfully, before Cumberland retire for the 6-3 final.
The Patriots will return to the court Friday, April 20, when they travel to Bowling Green, KY for the quarterfinals of the MSC Tournament at Kereiakes Park. Stay tuned to
