Campbellsville, KY – After the University  of the Cumberlands women's wrestling team clinched their first Mid-South Conference regular season title, they returned to the mat to faces the Campbellsville University Tigers. The Patriots fell to the Tigers 27-20 to even the series at 2-2, while the Patriots drop to 10-6 on the season.
 

Campbellsville took an  early 9-1 lead as Katelin Barnett won by forfeit at 101 lbs. and McKayla Campbell defeated Jessica Rodriguez via tech-fall. 17^th-ranked Madison Angelito  got the Patriots on the board with a pin in 0:46 over seventh-ranked Mia Rodriguez. Campbellsville would win the next three matches  to take a 22-7 lead midway through the match.
 

Cumberlands cut the deficit by ten after third-ranked Kelly-Ann Jimenez and second-ranked Anna Naylor defeated both their opponents via falls.  Patriots would fall in the 170 lbs weight class via pin fall, before, seventh-ranked Jesse Kirby defeated the third-ranked Alexandra Castillo in a 6-0 decision, making the final score 27-20 final.

 

The Patriots will return to the mat Sunday, January 20 when they travel to Bristol, TN to compete in the Tornado Open.
