Williamsburg, KY – The third-ranked UC women's swimming & diving team returned to the pool to participate in a quad dual with the Patriots coming up victorious in all three of their matches Saturday afternoon at the Dinah Taylor Aquatic Center. The Patriots defeated Lees-McRae 176-81, while posting a pair of MSC wins over Bethel (211-36) and Life (201-45).
Viktor Lyson led the way for the Patriots with a pair of wins, hitting NAIA "A" cuts in both events. Lyson started the day by winning the 100 back with a time of 52.83, before touching the wall in 48.04 in the 100 free. Teammate Nic Cecioni placed second in the 100 back with a time of 55.55.
Senior
Thomas Crawford posted his second straight career-best as he tallied 227.45 points in one-meter diving. That mark improves of yesterday's mark of 226.55.
Daric Sundeen,
John Morgan McDonald, and
Alan Senn each posted a win on the day. Sundeen won the 200 back with a time of 1:58.35, while McDonald swam 4:53.12 to win the 500 free. Senn recorded a 10:04.00 to take top honors in the 1,000 free. McDonald (200 Fly) and Senn (400 IM) each notched a "B" standard on the afternoon.
Four other Patriots swimmers recorded a "B" cut on the day, including
Bryce Pierce who went 22.45 to finish runner-up in the 50 free.
Alex Mashburn went 54.07 in the 100 fly, while
Eddie Ceausu touched the wall in 2:03.03 in the 200 fly.
Gustavs Baumanis recorded the Patriots final cut going 4:28.98 in the 400 IM.
In the final event of the meet, the 400 free relay, Lyson, Pierce,
Jacob Smith, and
Logan Wintermute teamed up to swim a winning time of 3:21.76.
The Patriots will return to the water Thursday, January 31, when they travel to Kingsport, TN for the Mid-South Conference Championships. Live video will be available
