Lebanon, TN - The fifth-ranked University of the Cumberlands men's wrestling team held down Mid-South Conference foe Cumberland University 28-12 on Wednesday night to improve their record to 7-2.

Ranked third in the 125 lbs. class,
Hayden Lee began UC's 11-0 run with a win over Phoenix's Austin Plumlee, earning a pin at the 3:31 mark. The win tallied Lee's fourth pin of the season. In the 133 lbs. class,
Jacob Seto accomplished a tech fall, 18-0, over Jacob Rhyne to give Cumberlands the upper hand.

UC's Chase Brown loss in a 9-6 decision to 17th-ranked Keyshawn Laws, giving Cumberland their first score of the night. The Patriots extended their lead as
Tres Leon, ranked best in the 149 lbs. weight class, toppled Anthony Maia in an 18-3 major decision. Sixth-ranked
Bobby Ehman quickly followed suit with 16-11 decision win to give the Patriots a 19-3 lead.

The Phoenix would go on to win the 165, 174 and 184 weight class matches.
Brady Emerson was defeated in an 8-1 decision while 20th-ranked
Jarod Swank faced off against Cumberland's Nathan Walton, ranked 12th individually, and fell 13-7. In the 184 class, the Phoenix downed the Patriots again as John Olivieri, ranked 19th, defeated
Max Emerson in a 9-3 decision, closing the scoring margin to 19-12.

Eric Deluse and
Quandre Chisolm, ranked sixth and ninth in their respective weight classes, rounded out the Patriot win after defeating their opponents to hold off the Phoenix. Deluse pinned Nawin Hyers at the 1:29 mark for the win, his seventh of the season. Chisolm's 8-2 decision brought the final score of the match to 28-12.

The Patriots return to action on Saturday, January 12, facing MSC-rival Midway University and Emmanuel College on the road beginning at 2:00 pm.
