Williamsburg, KY –The third-ranked UC women's swimming & diving team posted 11 wins, six "A" cuts, and seven "B" cuts in a 148.5-41.5 win over Campbellsville Saturday afternoon at the Patriots Aquatic Center. With the win, the Patriots improve to 4-0 on the season.
Houston Burgoon and Mendy de Rooi led the way for the Cumberlands with two wins apiece. Burgoon went 2:05.81 to win the 200 free before taking top honors in the 100 free with a time of 56.54. Both of those times are "B" cuts.
De Rooi continued her fast strong start to the season as she swam 11:12.25 to win the 1000 free. The junior followed that up by touching the wall in 1:01.73 to win the 100 back and achieve an "A" cut. Teammate
Yuliia Hnidenko placed second in the race with a "B" standard time of 1:03.66.
Hnidenko also notched an "A" cut as she went 4:48.36 to win the 400 IM. That time is the third fastest time in the NAIA this season.
Maria Basto also recorded an "A" cut as she went 4:54.29 to finish second.
Casey Walin (5:04.67) and Alli Lovell (5:04.90) each posted a "B" standard in the event.
Abigail Miller tallied the Patriots final individual "A" standard of the meet as she posted a 208.50 to win the one-meter dive event.
In the 100 breast, Isebelle Asserstahl took the win touching the wall in 1:12.87.
Jami Margolen posted her first collegiate win as a Patriot as she went 5:53.87 to win the 500 free.
UC closed out the meet with

Maryann Smith, Basto, and De Rooi teaming up to swim 8:13.59 to win the 800 free relay. That time is the second fastest in the NAIA this season.
The Patriots will return to the water Friday, November 22, when they travel to Cleveland, OH to take part in the Cleveland State Magnus Cup. It will be a three day meet with morning and afternoon sessions.
