Williamsburg, KY – The UC Cheerleading team kicked off their competition season with a win against Georgetown Sunday afternoon in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.  The Patriots are competing in their first season as a NAIA declared championship sport.

UC hit a routine that not only earned them first place with a score of 78.05 but also ended the day with zero deductions from the judges table.

"I am extremely pleased with our performance today, especially since it's every team's goal to get zero deductions" said Head Coach Corissa Dyer.  "There are still multiple areas we can still improve but I'm happy where we are this early in the season."

Today's competition was the first of four competitions that Cumberlands will take part in prior to the NAIA Regionals, which takes place on February 23 in Baldwin City, KS.

The Patriots will return to the mat Friday, February 8, when they travel to Georgetown, KY to take part in a tri-competition with the Tigers and Union.
