Campbellsville, KY – The UC women's tennis is gearing up for their spring season by taking part in the Campbellsville Invitational last Saturday.  The Patriots had four singles players and two doubles teams post 2-0 records on the day.

UC's #1 doubles team of Tomomi Nagao and Jaclyn Jewell notched a 6-2 win over Petkovic and Pejcin of Union before defeating Ferguson and Kauffman of Georgetown 6-2. 

Tessa Gray partnered with Satsuki Mitani for a 2-0 mark with wins over Union's Rodenas and Schweizer and Georgetown's Swanson and Bielski.  Gray and Mitani also tallied a 2-0 record in their singles matches.  Gray recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ellis (IU Southeast) and a 4-6, 6-2, (10-3) win over Earnhardt (Cumberland), while Mitani tallied wins of 6-3, 6-2 and 7-6, 6-0.

Mikaela Fros and newcomer Johanna Beekman both finished 2-0 on the day.  Fros blanked Miller (IU Southeast) 6-0, 6-0, before defeating Cumberland's Navaratam 6-3, 6-3.  Beekman began the day with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Soto (IU Southeast), before defeating Bou (Cumberland) 6-1, 6-1. 

Nagao and Jewell each added a singles win on the day as well.  Nagao defeated Winchell of IU Southeast 6-3, 6-1 as Jewell notched a 6-1 7-5 win over Greenwell (IU Southeast).

The Patriots will return to the court Saturday, September 21, when they host the UC Invite 1 at the UC Tennis Complex.  First serve is set for 9 a.m.
