Box Score Williamsburg, KY – The 17th-ranked UC women's tennis team opened up their 2020 home schedule by hosting 12th-ranked LSU-Alexandria Saturday afternoon. Despite winning the doubles point, UC wasn't able to pull out the win as they fell 4-3 at the UC Tennis Complex.  With the win, the Generals improve to 8-2 on the season, while the Patriots move to 3-4 overall.

Cumberlands struck first taking the doubles point after winning two of the three matches. LSU-Alexandria responded with wins at #2, #3, and #4 singles to take a 3-1 lead. At #1 singles, Nagao improves to 7-0 on the season with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-1 win over Mladenovic to cut the deficit to 3-2.

The Generals clinched the match with a straight set win at #5 singles.  Mitani extended her win streak to five straight matches with a three-set win over Katheryne Campos, 6-2, 507, 10-8 at #6 singles for the 4-3 final.

The Patriots will return to the court Sunday, March 8, when they host Southwestern College at the UC Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
