Bowling Green, KY – For the fifth time this season, UC tennis player
Tomomi Nagao earned the Mid-South Conference women's tennis player of the week award, announced by the conference office Monday. Nagao scored four points on the week to win the award for the eighth time in her career.
The junior opened the week by teaming with
Jaclyn Jewell for a 6-0 win at #1 doubles over Packer and Mladenovic of #12 LSU Alexandria to help UC secure the doubles point. Nagao followed that up with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-1 win over Mladenovic to help Cumberlands even the score at 2-2 in the match.
Nagao followed that up with a pair of points in Cumberlands 7-0 win over (RV) Southwestern. The Patriots top duo improved to 5-0 at #1 doubles with a 6-1 win against Powers and Schorghuber to score the first point of the match. Nagao capped off her week with a 6-1, 6-3 win at #1 singles to remain unbeaten.
Nagao improves to 8-0 in singles play and 7-1 in doubles play on the season. Nagao has now won six straight doubles matches.
The Patriots will return to the court on Friday, March 20, when they host Shawnee State to open MSC play. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
