Williamsburg, KY – The second-ranked UC women's swim team opened the day by honoring one of the most decorated senior classes in program history, before extending its dual meet win streak to 20 straight Saturday afternoon at the Patriots Aquatic Center. Cumberlands defeated Midway 179-17, while posting 164-35 win over Bethel.
The Patriots won 11 events and clipped six NAIA provisional cuts on the day. UC opened the meet with their four seniors Mendy de Rooi,
Houston Burgoon,
Yuliia Hnidenko, and
Cameron Klimczak teaming up to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:56.26.
Hnidenko, competing in her first meet of the season, won the 100 breast with a provisional cut time of 1:09.93, while Klimczak tallied a pair of individual wins in the 100 free (57.48) and the 200 IM (2:17.60).
Hanne te Velthuis and
Anastasiia Shatalova both recorded a pair of wins in addition to a pair of national cuts. Te Velthuis touched the wall in 1:00.59 to win the 100 fly, before going 5:23.84 in the 500 free. Shatalova went 25.04 in the 50 free and 1:00.46 in the 100 back to earn the wins.
Maria Basto went 25.57 for a runner-up finish in the 50 free and a provisional cut. Emma Lehmhuhl added UC's final cut of the day after scoring a 205.05 on the one-meter board.
Elle Hays and Sami Danielsen achieved the final two wins for UC. Hays went 12:28.95 to hold off the field in the 1000 free, while Danielsen won the 200 free with a time of 2:07.24.
The Patriots will return to the water Thursday, February 4, when they travel to Kingsport, TN to take part in the MSC Championship. UC is seeking its third straight conference title.
