Williamsburg, KY –
Women's wrestling returned to the O. Wayne Rollins Center on Friday night when both RV Lourdes and #2 Campbellsville came for duals against sixth ranked Cumberlands. The Patriots were able to take down the Gray Wolves 30-4, but fell to the Tigers 35-11.

#6 CUMBERLANDS DEFEATS RV LOURDES, 30-14
The Patriots got out to a 5-0 lead after a forfeit win at the 101-weight class. Jaine Stephens then extended the UC lead to 10-0 after getting her fourth straight win by fall. Stephens got out to a 6-0 lead and then finished her opponent at 2:16 with the pin.

The only other match victory other than forfeit for Cumberlands came from Bridgette Duty in the 136-weight class. Duty wasted no time and attacked her opponent as soon as the referee blew the whistle. The aggressive moves from the senior led to her pinning her opponent after just 18 seconds, marking her second fastest fall of the season.

UC and Lourdes exchanged forfeits on a total of seven matches, but the two pin victories secured by the Patriots led to their 30-14 victory. This is the lowest number of points scored against Cumberlands this season.

#6 CUMBERLANDS FALLS TO #2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, 35-11
This time the dual featured a top-ten matchup in the first contest with Elizabeth Dosado ranked #2 taking on 9th ranked Mia Diaz. The entire match Dosado was on the offense with Diaz trying to keep her at bay. Early on, the freshman had a two-point lead that almost resulted in a fall, but Diaz escaped. Up 4-2 Dosado had a massive four-point takedown that led to another near fall, but time expired in the first period before she could lock in Diaz. The two would exchange a pair of takedowns giving Dosado the 10-4 decision. UC had the 3-1 lead that would become their only lead of the match.

With the team down 20-3, Duty looked to get UC back in the dual and trending in the right direction. Once again making quick work of her opponent, the Needville, TX native had a 2-1 lead in the first period. Known for her tech fall wins, having seven on the season, Duty picked up a four-point takedown to go up, 6-1. Using her strength, Duty forced her opponent on her back to pick up another fall at 1:11. This marks the second time this season Duty has back-to-back fall wins. UC was now down 20-8.

Heading into the 191-matchup the Tigers had a commanding 34-8 advantage. However, one of the best contests of the evening between #14 Lilliana Vergara against #15 MaQuoia Bernabe was about to ensue. Vergara got out to a 2-0 lead, but Bernabe countered with her own two-point takedown. Heading into the second period tied up a 2-2, The Versailles, KY native was forced to the ground by Vergara from an a side twist throw. It looked like Vergara was going to earn two-points but Bernabe kept her composure and rattled off two points of her own. The freshman would earn another two points to end the dual with a 6-2 decision. Despite the final score in Campbellsville's favor at 35-11, Bernabe ended the dual on a high note for UC, highlighted by her first career win over a ranked opponent.

The Patriots now have a 3-3 overall record and a 2-2 Mid-South Conference record while Lourdes has a 0-3 overall and conference record whereas Campbellsville sits at 5-0 overall and in conference.
