Columbia, SC – Cumberlands started out the Indoor season strong after posting first and second place finishes in the 3000M racewalk on Saturday morning. UC only brought their racewalkers to the Rams Winter Challenge hosted by Columbia International University, and they did not disappoint.

Carson Johnson started the year off with a career performance. He crossed the finish line in 13:25.57, a new personal best for the All-American, earning an A Standard as well. The sophomore broke his own school record time of 13:47.61 and looks to keep improving his time throughout the season. Johnson finished almost five minutes ahead of the rest of the field on Saturday.

Nicolas Cecioni was the other Patriot to race this weekend. The junior paced a time of 18:12.03 for a second-place finish on the day. Cecioni, who has also seen success in the pool for the Patriots swim team this year, looks to get better every race and hit a national standard on the track.

Johnson, Cecioni, and the entire Patriots track team will travel north to Louisville, Ky next Saturday for the Louisville Cardinal Classic for their first full team meet of the Indoor season.
