Bowling Green, KY – Carson Johnson started the Indoor season strong as he won the 3000M Racewalk at the Rams Winter Challenge on Saturday. The sophomore's performance earned him MSC Track Athlete of the Week honors, announced by the conference office on Monday.  
 
Johnson took home the win in dominant fashion crossing the finish line over four and a half minutes in front of the second place finisher. His time of 13:26.57 was a career best and a new school record for this event. This was the fastest time recorded in the NAIA this year as well. The Bowling Green, KY native hit the national A Standard which requires a time of 14:18. Johnson was 52 seconds faster than this A Standard.
 
This marks Johnson's first MSC weekly award honor of his career as well as the Patriots first honoree of the season.
 
Johnson and the Patriots will return to the track on Saturday for the Louisville Cardinal Classic in Louisville, KY.
