Bowling Green, KY – For the second time this season, Ashley Ikner is named the MSC Wrestler of the Week, announced by conference officials on Monday.

Ikner wrestled in the last deciding match of #6 Cumberlands' dual vs (RV) Brewton Parker this past Friday. UC was down 22-11 heading into Ikner's 155-weight class match. The Barons did not have a 170 or 191 wrestler so UC was guaranteed 10 points, but if Ikner lost the Patriots would lose the dual.

Ranked #6, Ikner had to face off against #9 India Page who came out of the gates strong picking up six straight points against Ikner. Page almost got a fall win over Ikner, but the senior was able to flip herself back over on her front and avoid the loss. At the next reset, Ikner regrouped and was able to earn a two-point takedown. Taking advantage of her position over Page, the Farmington Hills, MI native flipped Page on her back on the outer edges of the mat. Ikner forced her opponent on her back to earn the fall victory at 2:14. The win gave UC the points they needed to defeat Brewton-Parker 26-22.

This marks the second time Ikner has won this weekly award joining Bridgette Duty as the only other two-time winner from any MSC team this season. The Patriots have now won five of the nine Mid-South Conference Wrestler of the Week Awards.
UC will return to the mats this weekend to compete in the MSC Championships in Bowling Green, KY on Saturday February, 20.
