Williamsburg, KY – With their second straight shutout, the UC women's tennis team swept the Shawnee State Bears with a 7-0 victory. Following the win, the Patriots improve to 14-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in MSC play.
Similar to how they have all season, Cumberlands controlled all of doubles play, which featured two 6-0 wins, to take the early 1-0 lead over Shawnee State.
To start singles play, Mikaela Fros took down Sara Martin Reguera in the #2 spot with a two-set victory that extended the UC match lead to 2-0. Laura Marie and Johanna Beckmann immediately followed with their own two-set wins in the #3 and #5 spots to ultimately take the match for the Patriots with the match score at 4-0. Tomomi Nagao, Hana Shimeno, and Satsuki Mitani finished the day for Cumberlands in the #1, #4, and #6 spots with three consecutive two-set wins, and allowed UC to walk away with the 7-0 sweep over the Bears.
The Patriots return to the court on Thursday, April 8 to take on Cumberland University at 5:00 P.M. in Lebanon, TN.
