Bowling Green, KY - Kiara Abanto earns her first Mid-South Conference Bowler of the Week honors, the conference office announced Tuesday, Abanto had a strong week and earned a pair of top-ten finishes, including winning the Crossroads League 1 tournament.
 
At the Crossroads league 1 tournament, Abanto dominated the lanes by knocking down 821 pins over four games to land on top of the leaderboard with a 31-point advantage over the second place finisher. In the first game of the day, she knocked down 257 pins, which was the highest game of the tournament. The senior averaged 205.25 pins per game to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team, and captured her first win since the Thomas Burris Memorial Tournament in 2019.
 
Abanto's win assisted UC in finishing third out of nine schools at the tournament, totaling 6,721 pins over the day.
 
The Patriots followed that up by earning their first team win of the season, and just fifth regular season tournament win in program history, after tallying 6,721 pins at the Crossroads League 2 tournament.
 
The Rock Hill, SC native captured her eighth top-ten finish of her career as she tallied 778 pins over four games to place seventh. Abanto totaled 216 pins in the third game of the tournament to help her climb the leaderboard, as she averaged 190.50 per game.
 
UC will be traveling north to Indianapolis, IN to compete in the Columbia 300 Western Shootout Saruday, October 15^th..
