Rome, GA - Meiri Okuwaki advanced to the semifinals of the west bracket after a straight set win on the second day of competition at the ITA Cup Friday afternoon.  The win is the first ITA Cup win for the Saitama, Japan native.  
 
Okuwaki opened the day by competing against a Valentina Urelli of Menlo College.  The two players traded points before Okuwaki pulled away to take the first set 6-4.  The reigning MSC Freshman of the Year followed that up with a 6-2 win in the second set to advance with a straight sets win. 
 
The sophomore will face Victoria Savvides from Holy Cross College on Saturday morning with the winner of that match advancing to the finals of the west bracket on Sunday.
