Rome, GA - For the second consecutive day
Meiri Okuwaki won in straight sets to solidify her top-12 finish at the ITA Cup Saturday Afternoon. This was the first appearance for the UC sophomore, who improved to 2-1 overall at the tournament.
Starting the day, the Saitama, Japan native, took on Victoria Savvides from Holy Cross College in the semifinals of west bracket. The reigning MSC Freshman of the Year came out with the lead in the first set, winning 6-3. After exchanging points, Okuwaki pulled through to close it out in the second set, with a score of 6-4. With the win, Okuwaki improves to 4-1 on the year in singles play, and her top-12 placement.
