Cincinnati, OH - UC men's bowling team rallied on the final day of the MSC Cincinnati Classic knocking down 3,869 pins over the final four team games to climb four spots in the team standings to earn their fourth top-ten finish of the year Sunday afternoon. The Patriots tallied 8,580 pins over the two day, nine game tournament as UC finished in seventh place overall.
The Patriots came out strong knocking 968 pins in the first game of the day, sixth overall, to surge into the top ten. Cumberlands added 945 points in the seventh game followed by 1,062 pins in game eight, which was the most by any team as UC continued to climb to seventh place. UC closed out the tournament averaging 953.33 pins per game.
Robert Borowski rose on the individual side of the leaderboard on day two to lead the way for UC and notch an 18th place finish in the individual standings. Borowski clipped the 200 point plateau in three of the final four games, including a tournament-best 279 in the eighth game to solidified his second top-20 finish of the season. The Lexington, KY native averaged 201.7 per game and finished with 1,815 pins.
Bryce Frantz surged 24 spots in the individual standings to finish 25th with 1,754 pins. The graduate student recorded 399 pins over the first two games on Sunday to climb 17 spots in the individual standings. Frantz closed out the tournament with a 234 and 191, respectfully to solidify 25th place.
Stephen Simmons and Charles Wilkens also rallied on the final day of the tournament. Simmons knocked down 1,613 pins averaging 179.2 per game, while Wilkens closed out the tournament with a 223 in the final game to finish with weekend with 1,594 pins. Wilkens averaged 199.3 pins per game over the final eight games of the tournament, including surpassing 200 pins in four of the eight games.
UT-Southern took home the trophy this weekend after tallying 9,643 pins, finishing 11 pins ahead of Pikeville. Tennessee Wesleyan carded 9,177 pins over the weekend to place third, while SCAD and Midway rounded out the top-five with 9,001 and 8,852 pins, respectively.
Cumberlands will be on the hunt for their first win of the season in Marietta, Georgia on Saturday, November 5th while competing in the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic.
