UC Notches Two Wins To Open Their Home Schedule

Williamsburg, KY- Patriots men's swimming and diving makes it three straight wins to start the season. In the home opener, the Patriots took down Union 165.00 - 12.00 and Midway 167.00 - 20.00. UC had seven provisional cuts in four events.

Ruben Gonzalez de Oliveria led the way for the Pats as he hit two provisional cuts and came close to shattering a school record. Oliveria's day started with a first-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 46.04. That time is currently the third fastest time in the NAIA. Then in the 200 free he hit another provisional poll as he touched the wall in 1:42.32, which is the fourth fastest time in the NAIA. Also, in the 200 free Jakubas Jankauskas and Kacper Sobieszuk hit provisional cuts as they finished second and third. Jankauskas would hit another provisional cut in the 100 fly, as he touched the wall first with a time of 52.63.

Then in the 100 back, the freshman duo of Ruithiik Satti and Filip Rybinski hit the final provisional cuts. Satti touched the wall to finish in first with a time of 52.37, which is eighth fastest in the NAIA. Rybinski followed with a time of 53.83 for second place.

The Pats then finished first in the rest of today's events. Sobieszuk finished first in the 500 free at 4:54.92, while Evan Hawkins and Lucca Zhigalin followed with a second and third place finish. Hawkins then notched a first-place finish in the 1000 free. UC locked out the podium places as Andres Caicedo finished first with a time of 1.00.07, followed by Peyton Berter in second with a time of 1:02.11. Marcos Del Vado Sanz finished in third to round out the top three. Caicedo finished the night with a first-place finish in the 100 IM in a time of 53.58. Nathan Souza touched the wall second in 55.55, while Gabriel Eriksson came in third with a time of 55.94.

Cumberlands hit the road as the head to Terre Hauts, IN for a Quad-Meet on November 5th starting at 1 PM.
