Knoxville, TN- The 21
st ranked Patriot Men's golf team opened their second tournament of the 2022 Fall season this afternoon at the Links of Kahite to compete in the Bojangles TN Intercollegiate invitational. After a combinded first and second round, the team stands in second place with a score of 589 (+13), just six strokes behind #9 Dalton state who holds the first place spot after day one.
Leading the way for the Pats is freshman,
William Ekeroth. In his second outing as a Patriot, Ekeroth recorded scores of 70 (-2) and 71 (-1) in the first two rounds of the tournament. In his first round, he carded four birdies on holes two of which came on hole 1, a 528-yard par 5 and hole 9, an 808-yard par 6. In the second round of 18, Ekeroth shot an eagle on hole 1 and followed it up with birdies on hole 11 and 18. He finished the day in first place with a combined score of 141 (-3).
Behind Ekeroth, tied for 11
th is
Gustav Barden and Jarryd Elliot. Each member of the team carded a 75 (+3) in the first 18 holes and a 73 (+1) in the second round. On the day, Elliot had four birdies. Barden was able to notch three birdies during the first round, and four during the second. Each competitor goes into day two with a combined score of 148 (+4).
Rounding out the team score for the Patriots are
Imanol Camba and
Hampus Nilsson. Tied for 22
nd is Camba who carded a combined score of 153. In his first round, Camba shot three birdies and eight pars to garner a score of 78 (+6). He improved upon his score in the second round of 18 by taking three strokes off of his score. Camba finished the round with a 75 (+3) to earn his 22
nd place tie. Nilsson ended the day with a combined score of 156 (+12) after first and second round scores of 77 (+5) and 79 (+7).
Competing as individuals for the Cumberlands was Pedro Morgado,
Jaime Crispi and
Lorenzo Fiato. Morgado finished the day tied for 18
th with a combined score of 152. Morgado was the highest scoring indivudal after day one, with four birdies across the two rounds. Beyond him is
Jaime Crispi who sits tied for 35
th with a score of 157 (+13). Crispi opened the invitational with an eagle on hole one of round one. The final indivuale competing for Cumberands is
Lorenzo Fiatowho is in 66
th place after carding a score of 172 (+28) after rounds one and two.
The men will play one additional round of 18 tomorrow, October 9
th to finish out the invitational.
