Jackson, MI – The Cumberlands women's bowling team captured their first team win of the season as they knocked down 6,721 to win the Crossroads League 2 tournament Saturday afternoon.  In addition to winning the team title Paige Frantz took home the individual title, becoming the second straight Patriot bowler to finish first at a tournament this season.

Frantz notched 857 pins, averaging 214.25 per game, to become the first freshman since Kiara Abanto in 2019 to win a tournament.  Frantz bowled the top two highest scores out of all competitors as she tallied a 247 in game two and a 226 in game four to pull away from the field and take the top spot by 19 pins.  The freshman was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

 Abanto posted her second top-ten finish of the weekend as recorded 778 pins over the four games to place seventh.  The Rock Hill, SC native used a 216 in game three to surge up the leaderboard as she averaged 194.50 pins per game. 

Haleigh Lawwell continued her strong start to the season with her second consecutive top-15 finish.  Lawwell averaged 184.75 per game to finish 14^th with a total score of 739. The junior carded over a 190 in three of the four games, including opening the day with a 196 in game one.

Allysen Coryell finished the day strong with a 194 in the final game to finish with a 688.  The senior averaged 172 per game and placed 26^th.  Erika Taylor rounded out the Patriots scoring in the team section finishing 29^th with a 682.

UC's strong showing in the teams rounds had them in second place heading into the baker games with 3,744 pins.  Cumberlands was 63 points behind Marian, who was in first place.  The Patriots recorded 2,977 pins over the 16 baker-style games, averaging a 186.06 per game, to surpass the Knights for the top spot. 

This is Cumberlands first tournament win since they won the Norse Collegiate Classic and the Eagle Classic on consecutive days, February 2 & 3, 2019.  It is also the Patriots fifth regular season tournament win in program history.

The Patriots will return to the lanes next weekend as they travel to Indianapolis, IN to take part in the Columbia 300 Western Shootout.
