Bowling Green, KY – Coming off three wins and achieving a pair of national cuts, Romina Itzkovich Sacco has been named the Mid-South Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.   The freshman becomes the fourth different Patriot this season to garner this distinction and UC's second freshman to earn the honor.

Itzkovich Sacco opened the meet by leading off Cumberlands 400 meter medley relay.  The Trujillo, Peru native teamed with Kayana Cook, Filippa Malmstrom and Aurora Stavoy to pull away from the field and touch the wall in 4:39.09.  That quartet of swimmers won the races by over 12 seconds to put UC in front of the team standings.

The freshman followed that up by taking top honors in the 200-meter backstroke.  Itzkovich Sacco led wire-to-wire in the race clocking a time of 2:24.73 to win by seven seconds.  That time was also seven seconds faster than the NAIA provisional cut, making it her first national cut of the meet.

The Trujilo, Peru native capped off the meet with her third win and second national cut, this time in the 200-meter individual medley.  Once again, Itzkovich Sacco led the race wire-to-wire to finish in 2:28.26 as she beat out four competitors in the event.  That time was also three seconds faster than the NAIA provisional cut.

Cumberlands defeated Shawnee State 182-73 in the dual meet to move to 8-0 on the season.

The Patriots will return to the water Thursday, December 1, when they travel to Wooster, OH to compete in The College of Wooster Invite.  This meet will serve as UC mid-season meet.
