Bowling Green, KY – UC's men's cross country team named two runners to the Academic All-Conference list, conference officials announced on Thursday. Junior Kyle Woodward was Cumberlands representative on the Champion of Character team. This marks the second year in a row Woodward earned this honor.
 
Carson Johnson and Woodward were the two patriots on this list for the 2022 season. This will be Johnson's third straight season on the academic team, while Woodward was named for the second time in his career.
 
In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.
 
The MSC recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values of the NAIA.
 
Woodward, Johnson, and the rest of the Patriots are looking forward to tomorrow where they will compete for an MSC Championship. UC comes in atop the conference polls, looking to bring home the banner for the first time since 2008.
