Patriots Ends the Regular Season With a Win Over the Blue Raiders

Williamsburg, KY – In this top-10 NAIA matchup, the 9th ranked Patriots took down 5th ranked Lindsey Wilson 32-9, on senior night. UC honored seven seniors, DeVaughn Sapien, Eric Beecham, Aaron Johnson, Ryan McManus, Jacob McNutt, Jarod Swank, and Seth Whitlock.

UC was in control the whole dual, taking control after the 125-match. In the 133-match, Gage Hudson got a 12-0 major decision win over Obi Smith, to get the 4-3 lead. In the match Hudson would get three takedowns and a four-point nearfall.  Then in the 141-match, McManus would get a forfeit win, to get six more points for the Patriots, this got the lead to 10-3.

In the 149-match, Chasen Brown would get his fourth fall of the season against third ranked Trent Johnson in 4:03. This gave UC a 16-3 lead.

The 165-match saw Weston Milnes control his match against John Lee to get the 15-4 major decision. Milnes would get two early takedowns, one resulting in a two-point nearfall and the other a four-point nearfall. He would end up getting another two-point nearfall and takedown.

16th ranked Harold Gilmore would get the 6-2 decision win over Gabe Smith in the 184-match to push the lead to 23-9 and secured the win for UC. Gilmore would get two takedowns on his way to victory.

With the dual in hand, ninth ranked Gabe Jacobs would get a fall win over 14th ranked Niko Bussell in 4:12. This fall was his 15th of the season.  Then sixth ranked Aaron Johnson would get the decision win over 13th ranked Carlos Figueroa, to end the dual 32-9.

In the one extra match Seth Lambers would get a fall over Leewonson Florexile in 5:00.

Head Coach Corey Ruff said, "I'm feeling really good right now with this win. We had real discipline wrestling from the guys tonight. This win proves that we're doing the right thing and we haven't even peaked yet, but tonight was by far our best performance".

The Patriots end the regular season 7-3. The MSC Championships are set to start next weekend on the 18th in Bowling Green, KY at 10 am.
