Results
Kennesaw, GA – The Patriots traveled south to Georgia to compete at the Don McGarey Invitational hosted by Kennesaw State University. 12 teams were featured in this two-day meet.
Jaylen Clements posted the best finish of the day for UC. He placed eighth after a 41.62m throw in his fourth attempt. This marks the second straight week that Clements has hit a PR in this event.
James Crawford was a top-10 finisher in the discus throw as well with a 39.32m throw.
Jhawan Horton,
Heath Rexroat, and
Carter Hemingway were the final UC athletes in this event, throwing distances of 32.83m, 28.57m, and 27.34m.
Four of these throwers also competed in the hammer throw, where Horton posted the Patriots third top-10 finish of the day. He placed ninth with a throw of 40.57m. Hemingway and Rexraot placed 13
th and 14
th with throws of 31.61m and 31.36m while
James Crawford finished 17
th after a 25.26m throw
Eight Patriots took to the starting line in the 1500m run Friday afternoon.
Kyle Woodward led the way for Cumberlands, earning an 18
th place finish with a new career best time of 4:15.57. DeShawn Crowe and
Kevin Mengich also posted personal record performances in the 1500 with 4:15.57 and 4:16.08 respectively. This earned the duo 18
th and 19
th place.
Jeremy Wolf (4:39.57),
Nicolas Cecioni (4:58.61),
Zach Pennington (4:58.66),
Carson Johnson (5:09.33), and Dailon Gambriel-Harris (5:21.54) were the final five Pats to compete in this race.
The 200m dash featured eight Patriots sprinters as well.
Ken Cobb was the first finisher, placing 25
th with a 22.54 time.
Miguel Reis finishes two spots behind Kobb after crossing the finish line in 22.62.
Tyrell Floyd,
Leonardo Daley, and
DeMarquez Brown were the next three finishers with times of 23.26, 23.31, and 23.32.
Justin Fabela (23.56),
Brandon Green (24.66), and
Ke'Shawn Stafford (24.81) were the final Patriot runners to race on day one.
The javelin throw was the final field event of the day for UC.
Chandler Powell threw his javelin 30.36m for 18
th place, followed by
Tristan Petrey's 29.73m throw for 19
th.
Cole MacMurray and
Chaz Jarboe rounded out UC's competitors with 27.61m and 22.81m throws respectively.
The final day of the Don McGarey Invitational is set to begin at 11:30 AM Saturday morning, with the final race set for 4:30 PM.
