Johnson Earns 3rd All-American Honors of Career as he takes Runner-Up at Nationals.

Brookings, S.D. – Each of the men's track and field national qualifiers were in action on Saturday. The Patriots had five runners competing in four events throughout day two of NAIA Nationals. Carson Johnson was the national runner-up in the 3k racewalk.
 
Carson Johnson ended his record breaking indoor season on a high note as he placed second in the 3,000m racewalk Friday morning. Johnson, who is already a two-time All-American with eighth and sixth place finishes, paced a time of 12:54.66 for his highest national placing as a Patriot.
 
Nicolas Cecioni raced alongside Johnson in this event, marking his first nationals appearance. Cecioni placed 11th after walking a time of 15:11.23. This was a huge personal best for the junior, beating his previous best by over 27 seconds.
 
Leo Daley raced in the 60m Hurdles prelims on day two. Daley hurdled his way to a ninth place finish overall, missing the final race cut by just three hundredths of a second. The sophomore ran a personal best time of 8.12, breaking the previous school record with his performance as well.
 
Ken Cobb and Miguel Reis rounded out the Patriot competitors on the weekend, racing in the 200 and 400m dash prelims. Kobb sprinted his way to a 23rd place finish out of 32 runners. He ran his single lap around the track in 22:02.  Reis paced a 49:38 time in the 400m prelims for 17th place.
 
This wrapped up the Patriots men indoor season. They will cheer on Jullia Morris tomorrow as she competes in the women's triple jump. Cumberlands look forward to outdoor starting in just two weeks in Charlotte, NC.
