UC Cheer Gears Up for National Tournament

Williamsburg, KY- For the first time since 2020, the UC Cheer team earned a bid to the National Tournament. With nationals taking place in two days, the Patriots are looking to make a strong showing during their final competition.

REGULAR SEASON RECAP

Cumberlands finished the regular season tallying two dual wins, along with three other top-three finishes at their competitions this season. Both of their dual wins came against two teams who also qualified for the national tournament. UC's first win came back on February 17 against the University of Mobile, where they topped the Rams with a final score of 88.4 to 85.75. The Patriots' second win of the season came against tenth ranked Missouri Baptist, where they won the dual with a final score of 85.22 to 82.85.

On the season, Cumberlands averaged a competition score of 85.22, which ranks 14th amongst all NAIA teams. Their highest competition score came during the preliminary round of the Mid-South Conference tournament where UC notched a score of 90.20.

MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

The Patriots finished in fifth at the Mid-South Conference tournament back on February 12. With Cumberlands' season best score in the preliminary round they finished the tournament with a final overall score of 85.29. Georgetown, who earned a bid into the national tournament, won the conference championship with a final score of 92.09.

NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Fifteen teams garnered a bid to the NAIA National Tournament, with eight automatic qualifiers and seven at-large bids.

The Patriots are set to compete at 5:10 PM EST on Friday, March 12 for the preliminary round, with the finals taking place on Saturday, March 13. The national tournament will be held at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, MI.
