Bowling Green, KY - After seeing Georgetown in their regular season finale UC's women's tennis team saw them again to begin their postseason and much like their earlier meeting, the Patriots got the win. Cumberlands and the Tigers matched up in the quarterfinals of the MSC Tournament Saturday evening with UC ending up getting the better of that matchup in the 4-0 win.

The Patriots were able to take doubles play thanks to a pair of 6-1 wins, clinching the first win of the match. The first came courtesy of Tomomi Nagao and Johanna Beckmann who played as Cumberlands' top tandem, defeating Georgetown's Lydia Prince and Samantha Spade. Nagao and Beckmann found themselves up 2-1 in the early going with things staying close until the UC tandem began to take over and win four straight points.

The second win came from Fan Shiau and Satsuki Mitani out of the #3 spot in the Patriot's lineup. This was Shiau and Mitani's doubles match playing together this season but it did not look like it as they dominated their counterpart to seal the point. Fan and Satsuki jumped out t a big lead early on, going ahead 4-0 and rode that to the win to make it a 1-0 game. Meiri Okuwaki and Tessa Gray were the #2 tandem for UC and they ended up not needing to compete with the Patriots claiming the point.

Singles play proved to be just as dominant as doubles with UC grabbing a trio of wins to end the contest. Satsuki Mitani got things kicked off with the first win of singles out of the #6 spot. Mitani has been on a roll when going solo, winning all six of her matches with this one ending with her one the right side of a 6-0, 6-1 tally.

Hana Shimeno made it a 3-0 count in favor of the Patriots at #4 with flawless win over the Tiger's Emma Hill. Shimeno had no issue at all handling her Georgetown counterpart as she claimed the 6-0, 6-0 win while Johanna Beckmann followed suit with her own win to end the match. Beckmann played out of the #3 spot and put together a strong performance of her own in the 6-2, 6-2 victory to complete the sweep.

Despite UC seeing three of their matches go unfinished the Patriots can feel good about what happened in those contests. Tomomi Nagao played as the team's #1 and found herself with a first set win by a count of 6-3 before her match was called while Meiri Okuwaki also won her first canto 6-4 and Fan Shiau winning 6-3 in her first stanza before being up 3-0 in the second, leaving things at that as the win had been clinched.

The Patriots will return to action tomorrow as they're set to take on the winner of Campbellsville and Thomas More in the semifinals Saturday. UC  has to feel good about their chances against either team, beating Campbellsville 5-2 earlier in the year and then sweeping the Saints. Cumberlands' semifinals match will be played at Buchanon Park with things beginning at noon CT.
