Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots returned to their home track to compete in a home regular season meet for the first time since the 2019 season. UC posted multiple personal best performances on day one of the Pepsi UC Invite and Distance Carnival.
Kyle Woodward was the top UC finisher on day one, racing in the 1500m. Woodward crossed the finish line in 4:12.55 for second place and a new PR.
Kevin Mengich finished two spots behind his teammate for fourth place, also running a personal best time of 4:13.17.
Jeremy Wolf ran his 1500m in 4:40.50 for ninth place.
Three Patriots competed in the decathlon on Friday.
Chaz Jarboe leads the way for UC sitting in third place through the first half of events.
Cole MacMurray finds himself in eighth while teammate
Chandler Powell is just behind in ninth heading into day two.
Jhawan Horton led the way in the hammer throw for UC. Horton posted a 44.07m throw for fifth place.
Heath Rexroat hit a new PR in this event with a 34.0m throw for 13
th.
Carter Hemingway placed 15
th with a throw of 31.59m while
James Crawford rounded out the Patriot throwers with a 24.31m throw for 20
th place.
Lamar Harris was the lone UC competitor in the long jump. In his first meet of the season Harris posted a top-ten performance, finishing seventh with a 5.75m leap.
Zach Pennington was the final Patriot to compete on day one, racing the 10k under the lights. Pennington ran the first 10k of his career in 39:12.12 and finished eighth.
UC tallied 23 points as a team on day one placing them in sixth overall. The Patriots look to move up the rankings on day two.
Cumberlands will be back at their home track Saturday morning at 9 AM. The decathlon is set to start the day off.
