Patriots Put Together Dominate Performance on Final Day of Home Meet

Williamsburg, KY – Cumberlands found a multitude of success on the track and field on the final day of their home meet. Battling through harsh conditions of wind, rain, and snow, the Patriots had one of their best days of the outdoor season so far.
 
UC continued their dominance in the racewalk this season. Carson Johnson took first with an "A" cut performance of 22:26.68. Nicolas Cecioni placed third and qualified for NAIA Outdoor Nationals with his 25:38.82 "B" standard.
 
Miguel Reis added his name to the list of Patriot winners on Saturday. He competed in the 400m where he paced a 49.55 for first. Justin Fabela finished fourth in this race with a time of 51.43 while DeMaruez Brown ran his single lap in 52.17 for ninth.
 
Reis also took home the gold in the 200m dash. He was the first of nine Patriots to finish in this event, crossing the finish line in 21.87. Ryan Long took second after a PR finish of 22.03. Matthew Chavers and Tyrell Floyd also place top-ten with times of 22.71 and 22.89, a PR for Floyd. Evan McCrickard finished 11th (22.93, PR), DeMarquez Brown placed 14th (23.11), Jeremy Slaughter finished 16th (23.22 PR), Justin Fabela placed 17th (23.73), and Andrew Josephs finished 20th (29.92, PR).
 
Seven Cumberland runners competed in the 100m dash, five of which placed in the top-10. Ken Cobb won the race with a 10.73 sprint. Ryan Long earned another second-place finish on Saturday with a 10.98 PR race. Tyrell Floyd and Evan McCrickard had career days in the 100 as well, placing sixth and seventh with times of 11.16 and 11.21. Elohim Bando added his name to the PR list in this race, finishing in 11.32 for tenth. Jeremy Slaughter and Andrew Josephs rounded out UC's finishers, placing 15th and 16th with times of 11.53 and 11.59.
 
The Patriots placed second in the 4x100 relay on Saturday. Tyrell Floyd and Leonardo Daley sprinted the first 200m with Ken Cobb and Matthew Chavers finishing the final half of the race. Chavers crossed the finish line in 43.74.
 
DeShawn Crowe led the way in the 800m run, placing first in 2:02.83. Jeremy Wolf posted a 2:13.72 for 11th while Dailon Gambriel-Harris put together a career best time of 2:18.50 for 15th. Garrett Hadaway was the final Patriot competing in this race, placing 18th with a time of 2:22.85 in his first race back.
 
Crowe got his second victory of the day in the 4000 medley relay. Kevin Mengich ran the first lap before passing the baton to teammate Ke'Shawn Stafford. Crowe then handled the third leg with Kyle Woodward finishing the final part. The team finished in 11:01.16 for first place.
 
The Patriots found success in both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles. Brandon Green led the way in the 110 hurdles placing second with a time of 15.40, a new PR. Andy Tchyombo and Jakob Woods also hit career best times in this race, finishing in 15.50 and 17.53 for third and fourth. In the 400m hurdles Leonardo Daley placed fourth with a 59.80 lap and Jakob Woods hit his second PR of the day, finishing in 1:02.57 for sixth.
 
Tristan Petrey was the final Patriot of the day to secure a first-place finish. He competed in the pole vault where he cleared 4.25m for first place. Petrey was the top UC finisher in the javelin throw as well with a new career best 35.39m throw for fifth. Heath Rexroat threw his javelin 28.74m for 11th and a new PR while Jhawan Horton placed 14th with a 28.74m throw.
 
Horton led Cumberlands throwers in the shot with a 12.21m throw for fourth. James Crawford placed two spots behind him with a 11.92m throw while Carter Hemingway and Heath Rexroat placed 11th and 13th with throws of 11.34m and 10.62m.
 
The final throwing event of the day was the discus, where four Patriots took to the circle. Jaylen Clements finished fourth with a 41.31m throw. Jhawan Horton threw his disc 34.96m for sixth with James Crawford placing 11th after a 30.97m heave. Heath Rexroat rounded out the Patriot competitors in this event with his third PR performance of the weekend, a 28.95m throw for 18th.
 
Three Patriots finished the decathlon on Saturday. Chaz Jarboe was the top Patriot finisher placing fourth with 4095 points. Cole MacMurray placed sixth tallying 3911 points with teammate Chandler Powell behind him in seventh with 3399 points.
 
Cumberlands tallied 189 points as a team for a first-place finish on the weekend. Lindsey Wilson placed second after scoring 115 points and Reinhardt rounded out the top-three with 91 points respectively.
 
The Patriots will head to Anderson, SC next weekend for the Electric City Invite. Events are scheduled to begin Friday, April 15th around noon.
