UC Women's Golf Sits in Fourth After Day One of The MSC Tournament Championship

Bowling Green, KY- Through 36 holes at the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship, the Cumberlands women's golf team sits in fourth place overall after carding a team score of 619 (+43) on day one.

Leading the Patriots across the two rounds at the tournament is Maria Neira. Neira, who sits three strokes behind of first place, began the tournament five pars through the front nine holes during round one. Through round one, Caracas, Venezuela native tallied 11 pars and a birdie for a final round one score of 78 (+6). The freshman's best round came during round two of the day. On Neira's opening nine holes on the round, she carded three birdies and four pars. Neira finished the round carding two birdies and six pars for a final round two score of 70 (-2).

Sitting with a share of tenth place on the individual leaderboard through two rounds is Elena Hortian. Hortian opened the tournament tallying a 75 (+3) during round one, after carding nine pars and three birdies. The Mallorca, Spain native opened round two by recording a par on hole five, which is one of the longest holes on the course. The sophomore finished round two with a final score of 79 (+7), after tallying eight pars and a birdie during the round.

Teammates Emily Allen and Sharon Holczer both had strong outings during day one of the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship to earn a share of 19th on the individual leaderboard through two rounds. Allen's best round of the day came during round one where she carded a 78 (+6). Across her opening round, the freshman recorded ten pars and a birdie. Allen kept the pace going into her second round of the day as she carded three pars and a birdie through her first five holes of the round. The freshman finished round two with a final score of 81 (+9).

Holczer's best round of the day also came during round one where she carded a 76 (+4) during the round. The freshman opened the tournament tallying two pars and two birdies on her first four holes of the day. The Caracas, Miranda native closed out round one in similar fashion, recording two pars and a birdie on her final three holes of the round. Holczer finished round two with a final score of 83 (+11) after tallying two birdies and seven pars.

Rounding out the top-five for the Patriots is Viviane Braun. Braun currently sits in 24th on the individual leaderboard after two rounds of the tournament. The senior's best round came during round one of the day where she carded a 79 (+7). Across the two rounds, Braun recorded 19 pars and one birdie for a combined two round score of 163 (+19).

Cumberlands will return to the course tomorrow in Bowling Green, KY for their final round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship. Players are set to tee off tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. EST.
