Gulf Shores, AL – The Patriots competed in four events on the second day of the NAIA National Championships. UC took to the starting line in the 4x400m relay, 400m dash, 110m hurdles and the 5k racewalk where Carson Johnson brought home a top-four finish and All-American honors.

Johnson earned the second outdoor All-American honors of his career, and fifth total in the racewalk competition. He paced a time of 22:50.40 to finish fourth overall. Nicolas Cecioni also raced in this event on the day, finishing 12th with a time of 26:22.46.

Leonardo Daley put together an incredible effort but came up just six hundredths of a second short from earning a spot in the 110m hurdles final race on Friday. Daley placed ninth out of 29 hurdlers in the prelims, with the top-eight finishers moving on to the final day. His 14.41 time was a new school record and PR performance.

Miguel Reis was the lone Patriot in the 400m dash preliminaries on Thursday. The senior paced a 49.43 time around the track for 21st out of 27 finishers. Reis was also the first leg of the Pats 4x400 relay team, who rounded out UC's second day at the track under the lights. After Reis ran the first lap, DeMarquez Brown and DeShawn Crowe ran the second and third. Justin Fabela took the baton for the final leg and crossed the finish line at 3:18.13. This time earned them a 16th place finish, not enough to qualify for the finals tomorrow night.

The Patriots still have pole vaulter Tristan Petrey set to compete tomorrow. The pole vault competition is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM.
