5/3/2022 5:30:00 PM

Kansas City, MO – For the fourth time in five years, UC's women's tennis team has qualified for the NAIA National Tournament with them set to take on the University of Mobile in the opening round. The Patriots will travel to Mobile, Alabama for the tournament with the opening round set to take place on May 17th.

Cumberlands has an overall record of 22-5 with a 9-1 mark in conference play, good enough for second in the MSC. The Patriots played some of their best tennis down the stretch on their way to wining each of their last 11 matches while winning their first conference title in over 20 years with a 4-1 win over #9 Lindsey Wilson.

UC's first game of the national championship will see them match up with the University of Mobile who comes into the tournament with a 10-5 record. The Rams finished their season in the semifinals of the SSAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, falling to William Carey and enter the national tournament ranked 22nd in the NAIA. The Patriots are no strangers to Mobile as they faced them in the opening round of the 2019 championship with Cumberlands taking that match 6-3 and will look for similar results this time around.

If Cumberlands wins their first match then they will play Montreat who comes in with a record of 15-5, going 8-0 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference during the regular season and capturing the AAC championship with a win over #7 Tennessee Wesleyan.

Cumberlands is one of only two Mid-South Conference teams to make the NAIA Tournament with Lindsey Wilson also making it with an at-large bid.
