Year in Review: Cheer

The 2022 season for the Patriots Cheer team ended with a trip to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since the 2020 season. UC finished the season finishing in the top five in six of their seven competitions, while also tallying three dual win.

THE YEAR IN NUMBERS

Eighty six

 UC opened the 2022 season with the Patriot Spirit Invite. Cumberlands notched a score of 86.40, which marked the highest season opening score in program history. 


 


 

ONE

Jayla Ledford had a breakout season for the Patriots, tallying Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year honors.

Cumberlands tallied a trio of dual competition wins on the season. UC beat Pikeville, Mobile, and Missouri Baptist to mark their first three wins of the season.

Five student-athletes were named to the MSC Academic All-Conference team. Natalie Rector, Jeanna Nantz, Ally Alred, Alyssa Daniels, and Abigail Sharp all received the honors.  

 
ONE

On the season, UC notched a win against a top-10 ranked opponent. The Patriots topped tenth ranked Missouri Baptist in their final regular season dual of the year.

Nine Patriots garnered Mid-South Conference All-Conference honors for their performance throughout the year. Jayla Ledford, Codie Hoop, Courtney Caudill, Haley Noble, and Mackenzie Dedman all were named to first team, while Gavin Collins, Natalie Rector, Ally Alred, and Alyssa Daniels garnered second team honors.
